The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Revealing Microdermabrasion 100ml £22

Every summer I suffer from ‘milia’ cysts - also known as milk spots, tiny white spots that are not whiteheads or acne, but cysts caused by a build up of oil from the use of heavier creams, suntan oil etc. Whilst this type of milia are completely harmless, they can linger around for quite a long time. To get them removed it’s best to see a skin specialist who can freeze them off, surgically remove them or give prescription medicine.  I don’t have the time or money for this, so prevention really is the only way.

To prevent milia it’s important to exfoliate regularly. My favourite exfoliator has always been The Body Shop Vitamin C Daily Glow Cleansing Polish £14 100ml (pictured below). My readers know I’m a huge fan as I’ve reviewed for the press, my blog and also made Insta reels. However, having run out of the product a few months ago and being hectic with ‘single mum school holiday syndrome’  -  I’ve seriously neglected my skin. I’ve literally been a ‘wash and go’ and had no time to myself for the last 2 months. Thankfully the youngest teen is back at school later this week (hopefully - another story), and so I plan on getting back into the swing of reviewing products!

As mentioned above, I have already reviewed the Vitamin C Daily Glow Cleansing Polish however, I was recently sent the Vitamin C Glow Revealing Microdermabrasion. I was very excited to test this, as often with microdermabrasion you can see instant results. It gives a much deeper level of exfoliation and reveals the perfect surface to then apply face masks, serums and moisturisers. It also eradicates all signs of dullness and makes the skins surface feel and look incredibly smooth.

Ingredients include:-

  • Perlite - gently removes dead skin cells without stripping the natural oils.
  • Aluminium Silicate - helps absorb excess oil from the skin.
  • Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil - Almond oil, rich in fatty acids and helps moisturise dry skin. Antibacterial and helps reduces the signs of skin damage as contains vitamin E.
  • Butyrospermum Parkii Butter - Shea Butter, keeps skin feeling nourished and helps with eczema as has anti-inflammatory benefits.
  • Myciaria Dubia Fruit Extract - aka the Camu Camu berry that’s full of minerals and fatty acids. Helps protect the skin from environmental nasties such as pollution, UV rays and harsh weather elements.
  • Carica Papaya Fruit Extract - contains malic acid and vitamin C so naturally exfoliates the skin. Papaya is a powerful anti-oxidant that is both skin healing and anti-aging.
  • Mangifera Indica Fruit Extract - Mango, helps fight bacteria and so reduces acne and inflammation caused by acne.
  • Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder - calming and soothing, helps cool the skin especially from too much sun.

You only need a tiny amount, the size of a pea and that will easily cover your face (avoid the eyes and delicate lip area). Apply to wet skin and massage in, focussing on the chin, sides of the nose, cheeks and forehead. The micro particles buff into the deepest crevices and get rid of dead skin cells, dirt and grime.

Simply remove with a damp cloth to reveal super soft skin. This gives it an excellent base for not just other skin products but also for apply primer and foundation.

I was impressed as it gives a really thorough exfoliation to a salon standard. My camera isn’t that great on my iPad however, I immediately noticed that the light bounced off my face more than the other side (I only did one side). I know that with regular use (1-2 times a week), it will prevent my skin from developing any more milia.

As with all The Body Shop products, they’re vegan and cruelty-free. You can purchase this and the Daily Glow Cleansing Polish by clicking the link HERE
