Skincycles™ by Alice Age Defence Cream 50ml RRP £130

I’ve written on this luxury skincare brand before, so as a quick intro (as I’ve more on the founder in previous blogs), the brand is the brainchild of Alice Henshaw, on of the UK’s top experts in the field of aesthetic treatments. Highly qualified and with a nursing background, she is the Founder and Medical Director of Harley Street Injectables.  Alice pioneered a brand that would give consumers ‘at home salon quality’, and products that follow the pattern of how our skin cells grow and shed. So far all the products I’ve tested I’ve recommended to readers, and so I was looking forward to this review.

The Age Defence Cream is not just a ‘daily’ moisturiser. It takes every skin complaint and condition into consideration as well as protecting the skin from environmental aggressors and free radicals (pollution, UV rays etc). Not only does it protect the skin but it preserves and with continued use, is a good all rounder to yield off the signs of aging.

As you can see there are many ingredients, of which much to the reader is jargon and so I’ve broken down some of the ingredients so you can see their uses:-
  • Hydrogenated Polyisobutene - a non-pore clogging lubricant, that makes the skin feel very soft.
  • Leontopodium Alpinum Flower/Leaf Extract - otherwise known as Edelweiss, full of antioxidants. It’s potency is stronger than vitamin C so helps skin look radiant and feel firm.
  • Sodium Hyaluronate - this actually penetrates the dermis (a deeper layer of the skin), and binds moisture to those layers for continued hydration. It helps prevent wrinkles and dehydration lines.
  • Allantoin - ideal for sensitive skins, this non-irritating ingredient is moisturising and helps with itchy skin conditions. It lightly exfoliates to give a smoother complexion.
  • Thermos Thermophillus Ferment - this wonder ingredient is found in ocean bacteria at the deepest level of the sea. It’s used as it has heat-activated antioxidants and can protect against the sun’s harmful UV rays.
  • Camellia Japonicus Flower Extract - another potent extract that helps protect the skin from pollution. It’s high in polyphenols which help soothe irritated and sensitive skin types. It also holds an abundance of vitamins to aid in giving elasticity and radiance to dull, lined skin. If you suffer from eczema or acne, this ingredient helps soothe inflammation, whilst keeping moisture locked into the skin.
  • Ascorbyl Palmitate - this is the fat soluble form of vitamin C. It helps protect the skin against sun damage and helps even out skin tone.

The consistency of the product is light-weight and a little goes a long way. It comes provided with the spatula and you only need a tiny amount. It can be used all over the face including the delicate eye area and the neck, which makes this cost-productive as you don’t need to buy separate products.

I’ve applied a small amount to the back of my hand, it easily sinks into my dry, thirsty skin and has left it with a soft, dewy glow that’s non greasy.

Having tested hundreds (literally) of skin creams, I am impressed with the actives in this product and so, this one is going firmly into my bathroom cabinet!

The products are cruelty freeYou can check out the rest of the range at Skincycles, Sephora or Liberty (online and in-store), or by clicking the link HERE
