MOLTON BROWN London Wild Mint & Lavandin Eau de Toilette Sample Review

 

Molton Brown’s latest launch for 2023 is the Wild Mint & Lavandin fragrance, and it’s most certainly hit the shelves at the right time, just as many of us begin our Christmas shopping.

I have to admit, that when I first tested this I immediately began an internal struggle of whom to gift it to. I don’t get paid for reviews and so often gift samples to my family for Christmas (handy when you’re a single parent)! This was definitely benchmarked for either my 15 year old son or my boyfriend. The boyfriend was marginally winning (as I had already purchased a fragrance for my son) however, my son came home from school and said ‘don’t you dare give this to anyone else’! I don’t blame him, it is quite simply addictive. 

It is marketed for both male and female audiences however, it does lend more to the masculine fragrance. It’s the brainchild of Senior Perfumer Nathalie Koobus, a well known expert in the field of fragrance.   She had the best tutor in the world Jacques Chabert, who produced iconic fragrances such as Samsara by Guerlin and Cristalle by Chanel. With her childhood spent in Grasse France, and her guidance under Jacques Chabert, it is no surprise that she produced her own library of fragrances. Molton Brown’s wisdom in asking her to create a fragrance for them, will certainly pay off and here is why. 

At first notes it smelt a little similar to Christian Dior Sauvage, both hold similar accords including Lavender however, that is where the similarity ends. It is incredibly unique in that it has that freshness of Wild Mint that gives it an aromatic, rogue uniqueness. Top notes give that freshness of a rainfall shower, the scent is clean, most definitely green, slightly sporty but then drifts to middle notes of velvety Nutmeg and peppery Orris Root, before finally leaving smouldering base notes of nutty, sweet Tonka Bean. 

The packaging reflects the fragrance of green, clean and minimalist. As with all Molton Brown products it’s 100% vegetarian, cruelty free and paraben free. The Eau de Toilette is 100ml and costs £85 from Molton Brown stores or by clicking on the link HERE
