As we get older we often find ourselves focussing our attention on brown spots, that can appear most commonly on the face, shoulders, back and back of hands. These spots known as liver or age spots are the result of excess production of skin pigment. Often these spots develop in areas that are exposed to the sun, and whilst anyone can get age spots, at any age, the risk factors are generally people over 40, fair skin, being exposed to too much sunlight and tanning beds.
